Why Did I Create Wit & Wisdom?
First and foremost, because I love stories.
When I was in the 6th or 7th Grade, I dreamed of being a journalist. I mean, how fun would that have been? In the 60's there was no shortage of fascinating stories. Watching the 5:00 news, I thought, these people had the best jobs - going to fascinating places, meeting fascinating people (and wearing great clothes). I was riveted!
Life had other plans, however, and instead, I chose to be a Coddiwompler. And I believe it's been more fun.
I have found ways over the years, to feed my passion - always with the intent of helping other women, whether it was to help them find a job; navigate careers or personal paths, and now this - Wit & Wisdom.
I’ve been working since I was 16, doing everything from retail to recruiting to sales to event planning. That’s 50 years! And as I’ve become the “elder” in my workplace, I am beginning to see, more & more, that the younger people around me, sometimes without realizing it, are treating me as if I was always this grey haired old lady - not that there's anything wrong with that!
But when it happens, I just want to scream: ”I WASN’T BORN THIS WAY, YA KNOW!”
I have been a kid, a daughter, a sister, a girlfriend, a student, a friend, a wife, a working Mom, an entrepreneur, unemployed, and everything in between. I was born in the 50s; was a kid in the 60s; in high school in the 70s; "grew up" for real in the 80s; had kids in the 90s; empty nested in the aughts; and now here I am in 2026, continuing the adventure.
These young people don’t mean any harm. As a matter of fact, I am guilty of it myself now and then. I'll meet someone and assume this or that about them, and then, when I sit down and really talk to them, I am often blown away by the stories they carry with them, all too often stories that have faded with time - stories of accomplishments, failures, adventures - stories that have paved the way to the women we are now.
And some stories are simply hilarious!
These stories can’t be allowed to fade into oblivion. Join me and let's bring them back to life!
No matter what path in life a woman choses to take, there comes a time when she will enter that reflective stage, and come to realize that along that path, no matter how seemingly unremarkable it was, she has curated a remarkable collection of stories.
But Wit & Wisdom isn’t just about the past. More importantly, it is about the future - the next leg of our journey.
Betty White, who lived to be 100, said the secret to her long life is that she always stayed curious. Jane Fonda says she stays involved. Dick Van Dyke says he never stops experiencing new things.
Through the stories we will share in this collective digest, we will be reminded, guided, inspired, touched - or simply entertained. We will also be encouraged to stay involved; stay curious and keep learning.

In August we can often feel stagnant, like the heavy, humid air. Choosing to spend time at the beach or in the mountains, we sense the end of the hazy, crazy, lazy days of Summer, and prepare for the energizing, cooler air ahead.
Think about a time when you felt stagnant in your life and what you did to get moving again.
Was there a time when you felt sad about an ending, but excited about a new beginning?

September can sometimes feel like a false start. We bring out our sweaters but the cool air doesn't come. Yet, we are forced into action - vowing to turn over a new leaf! Letting go of what was and facing what is coming.
I am the queen of false starts! How about you?

Scary, scary October. Ghosts. Howling Wind. Venturing into the unknown. But the colorful harvest! The changing leaves, pumpkin everything, chilly but cozy evenings and warm days. The winds of change can be invigorating - or foreboding.
What scares you?
Was there ever a time you were afraid of doing something you really wanted to do?
How did it turn out?

Gratitude - it's a difficult but powerful thing!
To me, the sunrise brings opportunity and hope and the sunset instills a feeling of gratitude.
How do you stay grateful during difficult times?

Many of us suffer from the blues at this time of year. It can be hard to find the joy & wonder of the holiday season - but blessings can be found in unexpected, and even undesirable places.
When the blues set in, how have you learned to overcome them?
Or are you a kid at heart at this time of year?
